
Kalighat’s Kaku(uncle) alias Sujoy Krishna Bhadra is granted bail in the West Bengal Primary school recruitment scam. On Friday, Calcutta High Court Justice Shuvra Ghosh granted bail to “Kalighat’s Kaku” in this case. However, he is not going to be released from jail right now due to charges in the CBI case.
Earlier, Sujoy Krishna Bhadra was arrested by the ED on the primary recruitment corruption case. He approached Calcutta High Court seeking in this case. The hearing ended last month and Bhadra was granted bail this Friday. Few restrictions have been levied on Ghosh. He has to surrender his passport temporarily. He does not have permission to leave the lower court area. He is required to appear in the lower court on the day of the hearing. He will not be able to tamper with any document or change his phone number without the permission of the lower court.
Bhadra was also arrested on May 30 last year as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the recruitment process for various government positions. A recording of a conversation between Bhadra and civic volunteer Rahul Bera was discovered, acting as evidence to this case. After the arrest, Bhadra was immediately shifted to SSKM hospital due to health emergencies. He was later transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to further investigate his role in the alleged corruption. Bhadra filed an anticipatory bail application in the high court. If it is approved, he is going to be released from jail. The case was previously in the hands of the Court of Justice, Tirthankar Ghosh, but was later transferred to Shuvra Ghosh due to a change in the judicial aspect of the case.
In this case, the Supreme Court also granted regular bail to former TMC youth leader Kuntal Ghosh. He was in custody for around 19 months after he finally got the bail. He was accused of money laundering in the Bengal School Recruitment Scam.
