Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee surprised students appearing for the Madhyamik examination by making an unannounced visit to their schools on Tuesday. The leader, known for her strong connection with the people, arrived at United Missionary School in Bhawanipur shortly after the exams commenced, offering encouragement to students and exchanging greetings with their anxious parents.
Banerjee engaged in a candid conversation with students, inquiring about the difficulty level of their exams and checking on their overall experience. When she learned that the exams would conclude the day after tomorrow, she reassuringly remarked, “You’ll survive…!”—a statement that reflected both her confidence in the students and her attempt to lighten their nerves.
Highlighting the evolving education system, Banerjee noted that scoring in the Madhyamik examination had become more student-friendly, stating, “Now, many opportunities have been given. Earlier, no marks were awarded, but now the average is set at 80-90 to ease the path to higher education.” Her words reinforced the government’s efforts to make academic assessments more inclusive and beneficial for students.
Apart from academic motivation, the Chief Minister also turned her attention to infrastructural improvements. She assured financial assistance for painting school buildings and instructed the students to prepare a cost estimate for the task. “Submit the table of expenses to my office in Kalighat,” she said, signaling her commitment to enhancing the learning environment for young minds.
Her visit not only uplifted the spirits of the students but also demonstrated her proactive approach in addressing educational concerns. With the Madhyamik results set to be announced soon, Banerjee’s words of encouragement serve as a morale boost for thousands of examinees across the state.
