Dahod (Gujarat): In a shocking case of medieval brutality, a tribal woman in Gujarat’s Dahod district was stripped naked, tied to a motorcycle, and paraded around the village by a group of 15-20 people, including women and minors. The horrifying incident, which took place on January 28 in Dhalsimal village under Sanjeli taluk, has sparked nationwide outrage.
Shocking Punishment Over an Alleged Affair
According to police reports, the victim’s ordeal began when she was abducted from her father’s house by a mob after news spread about her alleged extramarital affair. The victim, whose husband is in jail for murder, had been living at her in-laws’ house but moved to her father’s home due to conflicts with her in-laws.
She later entered into a relationship with a man from her husband’s village, which reportedly enraged her in-laws and other villagers. Upon discovering her at her lover’s house, the mob forcibly dragged her out, stripped her naked, and took her to her in-laws’ home while parading her through the village in an act of public humiliation.
Incident Captured on Video, 15 Arrested
To make matters worse, the accused recorded the entire act on their mobile phones and shared the video on social media, causing widespread outrage. As soon as the video went viral, the Gujarat Police took swift action, rescuing the victim and arresting at least 15 individuals, including four women and a minor.
Gujarat’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, Rushikesh Patel, condemned the incident, stating, “This is a painful and shameful act for society. The Home Ministry took immediate note of the viral video, and strict action is being taken. Fifteen people have already been arrested based on the video evidence.”

Call for Justice and Stringent Action
The incident has sent shockwaves across the country, raising concerns over women’s safety and justice in rural areas. Social activists and political leaders have called for exemplary punishment for those responsible. Authorities have assured that no leniency will be shown towards the perpetrators, and further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.
The disturbing case has reignited debates over gender-based violence, particularly in tribal and rural communities, where honour and social norms often take precedence over human rights. As Gujarat reels from the shock of this incident, the focus now shifts to ensuring justice for the victim and preventing such inhumane acts in the future.
