Bally – A devastating accident on Bally’s GT Road late last night left two people dead and three others critically injured after a massive cement mixing dumper lost control and crushed a taxi along with two motorcycles. The shocking incident unfolded in Dewangazi around 11 PM, throwing the busy road into chaos.
According to eyewitnesses, the yellow-colored taxi was traveling at a steady pace when it was suddenly hit by another speeding vehicle, causing it to swerve uncontrollably. In a tragic turn of events, the dumper coming from the opposite direction plowed into the taxi, completely crushing it under its weight. Two individuals inside the vehicle, including the driver and a passenger, were killed on the spot.
The collision didn’t end there. Two motorcycles, carrying three riders, were also caught in the accident’s deadly wake. The bikers sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to Howrah Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Emergency teams, including Bally police, firefighters, and CESC workers, rushed to the scene. A JCB was deployed to shift the heavy dumper off the wreckage, while rescue teams used gas cutters to free the mangled bodies trapped inside the taxi. Authorities worked tirelessly to clear the road, as the accident led to a significant traffic snarl in the area.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a search operation for the dumper driver, who reportedly fled the scene after the crash. Efforts are also underway to identify the victims.
This tragic incident once again raises concerns over road safety on GT Road, where frequent accidents continue to claim lives. Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution, especially on high-speed routes prone to heavy vehicle movement.
